A report about the explosion near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport says that foreign intelligence agencies may have been involved.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) shared the report with the court. It says the bombing was aimed at Chinese engineers to hurt Pakistan’s relationship with China. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is said to be behind the attack.
The explosion happened near the exit of the airport, in front of a security room. Police arrived quickly and found many people hurt, including police and Rangers officers.
Three people died, including two Chinese nationals, Li Jun and Sun Huazhen. Over 12 others, including Waqar, Ilyas, Naeem, and others, were injured. Fifteen vehicles were destroyed by the blast.
A case has been filed at the airport police station. The charges include murder, attempted murder, assault, using explosives, and terrorism.
It was confirmed that the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber. The bomber used 70 to 80 kilograms of explosives. The attack targeted a convoy of Chinese nationals and caused a lot of damage, destroying three vehicles and damaging twelve others.
The bomb squad found that the bomber waited for the convoy before setting off the explosion. There were concerns about the safety of foreign guests during the attack. It seemed like the bombing was planned to target Chinese nationals, especially with the close ties between Pakistan and China.
The investigation is looking into why the attack happened and how it will affect Pakistan and China. Authorities found that the vehicle used in the attack belonged to Shah Fahad, a man from Nushki, Balochistan. They have identified him as the driver and are checking his ID cards and phone records to learn more.
