Decision Taken to Ensure Law and Order Stability in Punjab
The local government has sent a letter to the federal government asking for permission to have the army present. The army is expected to be sent to six districts to watch over important places like buildings and airports. The Punjab Home Department made this request to the federal government.
Earlier, army troops were sent to Islamabad on Friday.
Meanwhile, a group of people led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was heading to a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in D-Chowk. The convoy reached the outskirts of Rawalpindi on Saturday.
In Taxila, police were heavily firing at the Thatha Khalil district, causing protesters to throw stones and fight back. After facing a lot of resistance, PTI supporters were able to move past the obstacles at Pather Ghar Katti hill.
In response to the protests, military forces were placed behind what the government calls troublemakers. Gandapur’s convoy is expected to stay in Bahattar for the night.
At 26 Number Chungi, some workers set fire to a crane and a motorcycle.
Around 800 PTI supporters have arrived in Rawalpindi, and the main convoy is pushing through obstacles at Pather Ghar Katti, with everyone marching together.
