China and India met on Wednesday to discuss their border issues. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held talks in Beijing. They talked about keeping the peace at the border and finding a fair solution.
This was the first meeting like this since 2019. It came after both countries agreed in October to restart border patrols. Relations had been tense since 2020, when a fight in Ladakh killed 20 Indian soldiers and 4 Chinese soldiers.
Both sides agreed to work together to keep the border peaceful. They also decided to meet again in India in 2025 to continue the talks.
Earlier this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met during the BRICS summit. China and India share a long border, which has caused problems for years.
This meeting is a positive step. It shows both countries want to solve their issues peacefully and improve relations.
